Hi, I’m Jess aka Loadofolbobbins and I write about my experiences as a textile artist and illustrator. Please subscribe to support my work and if you want, read more of my stories and interviews. You can also find me on Instagram and shop my bright, bold and sustainable accessories on my website.
Well this is it, we’re now on the home stretch before Super Seconds Festival gets underway this weekend! I sincerely hope by now I have thoroughly convinced you what an epic event this is, with equally epic deals! One tip for those of you new to the event is once you’ve found your fave makers, it’s a really good idea to sign up to their mailing lists, as often times makers taking part give early sale access to their subscribers, myself included! So if you can find a few moments in the next few days, before it all kicks off at the weekend, I really recommend heading to the maker line up and signing up to those lists.
Once again I’ve really enjoyed highlighting some of the amazing makers taking part and helping you get to know them a bit more. So why ruin a good thing, let us continue doing just that and get to know the very talented ‘Alex Flower Art’.
Alex is a self taught Printmaker working in Lino and Wood Engraving, (let’s all take a moment to let that bed in before we scroll to see her utterly stunning work). ‘I had to take a break from my career as a Tattoo Artist due to health, and that's where my Printmaking came to life! I love to find the joy and appreciation in the small every day things some people take for granted, which I hope is reflected in my work.’
What is your earliest creative memory?
There's not one particular memory that comes to mind, I just remember always drawing! I used to spend hours on my bedroom floor drawing.
What fires your imagination?
I take huge inspiration from the world around me and nature in particular. I've always had a love for flowers and started growing my own from seed last year. I'm really enjoying watching the different stages of growth, and all the creatures they attract, which then inspires my art. I also love to travel when possible and have found exploring new places and cultures always fires off the creativity!
What Super Seconds deals should we look out for from you?
Lots! I have some lovely artist proofs of wood engraving and lino prints, as well as older work, that have no faults all up for grabs, along with some seconds of my newer work at reduced prices.
Alex’s work has that wonderful quality of being both beautifully spare and extremely intricate, every detail is important and the space she affords the images, equally so. Do make sure to take a virtual stroll to her shop this weekend during Super Seconds Festival to see what wonderful offers can be found!
Are you ready for Super Seconds Festival?? Let me know in the comments…
Will definitely purchase some prints from here. For some reason, I'm currently in my Bee Era BWAHA and have been getting home decor products with bees on them.
