Hi, I’m Jess aka Loadofolbobbins and I write about my experiences as a textile artist and illustrator. Please subscribe to support my work and if you want, read more of my stories and interviews. You can also find me on Instagram and shop my bright, bold and sustainable accessories on my website.
Blimey, it’s been a while since I wrote something here, in large part because I have been working on an exciting project that anyone who follows me on Instagram may already be aware of….but I’m planning a big reveal post here soon so shall be keeping that in my back pocket for now! So what, you may be asking, has enticed me back over here to have a chat with you all…the big blog title has probably given the game away, but hey Super Seconds Festival may be new to some of you so here let me explain…
Back in September 2020 in the middle of lock down Sophie, aka @inkandbear and now also The Creative Incubator, had printed a whole pile of t-shirts that went ever so slightly wrong. She decided to see if any other makers had any ‘imperfect’ pieces, or seconds, they wanted to sell as part of an event…and thus Super Seconds Festival was born. Twice a year 250 makers rummage through their stashes of seconds, misprints and samples to find beautiful bargains to offer the public. With budgets tight it’s a great way to get unique, quality gifts for your loved ones or yourself (because you deserve it!) at really affordable prices and all while still supporting indie makers!
So in a little over two weeks on 11th & 12th May Super Seconds will get underway again with lots of lovely things on offer! This time I also have the great privilege of being a champion for the festival alongside three other amazing makers The Jaunty Fig, Ambustum and Kate Maxwell Studio!
What has become somewhat of a tradition, every Super Seconds I feature some of the amazing makers taking part in a series of blog interviews here, it’s a lovely way to get to know them better and also keep up the community spirit which is so much a part of what makes this such a special event!
So without further ado, let’s settle in for a quick chat with Meg Fatharly, professional art person (love this job description) who specialises in printmaking, collage and more, whose clients includes the V&A, Fortnum and Mason and The Natural History Museum.

Have you heard about Super Seconds Festival before or is this your first time discovering this incredible event? Let me know in the comments…
The sweary products in binary code. Very clever. LOL
I have *not* heard of Super Seconds before - but it sounds bloomin brilliant! We have Artists Open House here in Brighton in May so I always associate it with a time of year when I can get to see and pick up really cool & unique pieces. How fab to have a way to do the same with more makers from further afield online too 🤩
